The months leading into your senior year can be a bit overwhelming. You’re handling ACT and SAT prep, college tour trips and university applications. One of the most important things you will plan during this time is your senior portrait session. You may be wondering how to book a senior portrait story session.
Don’t Worry! I’m Here to Help!
Not to worry. The senior portrait process may seem complicated, but I’m going to walk you through the whole process. Come on with me, and let’s work together to create a senior portrait story you will love forever!
Before Your Session…
The first step is to find your photographer. Congratulations! You found me! Want to know a little bit more about me? Check out my About Page and see what Traci Sproule Photography is all about.
Second, you should spend some time checking out my Blog to get an idea of what some of my seniors have experienced with sessions. And look…here you are, reading the blog. You overachiever, you.
Now that you know me a little, let me get to know you! The third step in the senior portrait process is to hit the Contact page and drop me a note. This will help me plan the perfect session for you!
Fourth! Once I receive your contact form, I’ll email you some possible dates for your session, and some information about packages and pricing. At this time I will also send you a contract and a model release form to sign (The model release is a standard form that allows usage of photos in social media, blog posts and portfolios. The contract details what you can expect from a session and delivery standards of photo products.)
Fifth, and when we’ve agreed on a date for your story session (which will totally rock, by the way), I will send an electronic invoice for your session fee. This will lock in your session date to make sure no one else books it.
Sixth, in the days and weeks leading up to your session, you and I will plan outfits, locations and concepts to make sure that I understand your vision for your senior story. We may do this via phone, text, email or my secret weapon: the secret Pinterest board. Go ahead…ask me how!
Your Senior Story Session…YAY!
Step Seven is your actual senior story session. This is the most fun of the steps, and the most important one. This is where we will capture your images. Stay tuned for a second post that will detail EXACTLY what happens at a senior story session.
After Your Session…
Eight! I will get to work on the post-processing. I will choose the images that best convey your vision for your story, and provide light editing (color correction and minimal blemish removal).
Ninth, we will schedule an ordering session. This is a very important appointment. You’ll get to see your finished story images in a slideshow set to music (Dude! Your own music video!). All of the people who should be involved in helping you choose your final images should attend this appointment. I’ll be there to help you decide, and it will be a lot of fun. We will choose your yearbook images, your package and your photo products at this ordering session. Super fun!
The rest of the steps will will happen after your ordering session, and they’re pretty easy, so here goes:
- I will deliver your digital images and printed photo products shortly after your ordering session so you can enjoy them as quickly as possible.
- If you order the Memories package, with the included “senior magazine,” we will wait to design that until the end of the year so we can include graduation portraits!
- In the spring (around March), I will email you about designing custom graduation invitations and announcements, and help you get those sent out, if you like.
- At the end of the school year, in early May, I will contact you to schedule a cap-and-gown graduation portrait mini-session, if you’re interested. These lifestyle sessions, typically shot around your school, are very popular, and add a lot to your senior magazine.
And that’s it!
