South Florida Senior
Throwing it back for Thursday…Alejandro’s Juno Beach Senior Portraits session was everything you want a beach portrait session to be.
The sky was the perfect blue. The strip of sand stretching out from the Juno Beach Pier was uncrowded – we practically had the beach to ourselves. The pier itself provided an interesting backdrop that pretty much screamed: “Beach Senior Portraits Here. Step Right Up.”
But Alejandro was a standout. I have been to this beach before. I have stood in this spot. I have created other senior stories with this same backdrop. But no one has ever given me a session like Alejandro’s.
Roots in Venezuela
He was a South Florida senior (he’s graduated and moved on from high school now), but Alejandro’s roots are deep and fast in his Venezuelan home. He talked about his family, and how thrilled they were for him to be in America. But he missed them. He brought along a flag of Venezuela so that his senior images could meld the backdrop of the home that he has chosen with the heritage that he has left behind.
The camera loved Alejandro, and he loved the camera right back. I teased him a little bit about a future in modeling, but the truth is he’s just an easygoing, really fun young man, and that personality is what came through the most. He would give me a “serious face,” and then crack himself (and me) up laughing. I have rarely enjoyed a session as much as I enjoyed his. And I loved his sunglasses, which were the perfect accessory for Juno Beach senior portraits.
Alejandro smiles in a way that invites you to join him. He is happy where he is, but he’s so proud of where he came from. And he’s excited about where’s he’s going.
